The Gymnastics Connection

OVERVIEW

The Gymnastics Connection is a non-competitive gymnastics facility in Kirkland, Washington, founded in 2003 with a philosophy of teaching gymnastics in a loving and encouraging environment where every child can feel like a star. At The Gymnastics Connection, children progress at their own pace and coaches acknowledge each individual accomplishment, creating a gym where the experience of participation is valued above competitive achievement at every age and skill level.

The gym maintains a family-friendly environment with appropriate music and language at all times, a low child-to-coach ratio, and cleanliness as a top priority throughout the facility. The Gymnastics Connection’s motto — teach children they can achieve, and they will remember the lesson for life — reflects the genuine belief of the coaching staff that gymnastics is first and foremost a vehicle for building confidence and capability in young people.

THE GYM

The Gymnastics Connection operates at 11611 NE 116th Street in Kirkland, Washington, providing north Eastside families with a well-maintained and welcoming gymnastics facility. The gym features apparatus for all gymnastics events, a low child-to-coach ratio, and a consistently clean and odor-free environment that families frequently cite as a distinguishing feature of the facility.

While The Gymnastics Connection is fundamentally a non-competitive gym, it does offer an Exhibition Team program and added Xcel as an option for higher-level gymnasts who want performance and competitive opportunities without the demands of a full competitive program. Exhibition teams perform at schools, retirement homes, parades, and community events, giving gymnasts a meaningful and celebratory outlet to share their skills with the community.

PROGRAMS AT THE GYM

Monkey Classes and Preschool Gymnastics

The Gymnastics Connection’s Monkey Classes for ages 18 months through 5 years focus on locomotor skills, developmental gymnastics, and songs and games that emphasize fun and age-appropriate movement. Parent-tot classes are available for children 18 months to 3 years, and preschool classes for children ages 3 through 5 develop early motor skills and foundational gymnastics skills in a nurturing group setting.

Recreational Classes and Exhibition Team

Recreational gymnastics classes for elementary through high school-age students provide a fun and progressive gymnastics experience that builds skills across all events without the pressure of competitive gymnastics. Boys classes and tumbling classes are available for athletes seeking specific programming formats. The Exhibition Team gives higher-level gymnasts the opportunity to perform routines for community audiences throughout the year, and an annual two-day Gymnastics Extravaganza invites all gymnasts to perform routines for family and friends at the end of each school year.

Birthday Parties and Summer Camps

The Gymnastics Connection offers themed open gyms, birthday parties, and summer camp programming. Single-day Friday camps and full-week summer camps are available for ages 4 and older with no gymnastics experience required, providing an active and fun camp option for families throughout the north Kirkland area.
