OVERVIEW
The National Academy of Artistic Gymnastics (NAAG) is one of the most historically significant gymnastics programs in the United States, founded in 1973 by Richard Mulvihill and Olympian Linda Metheny Mulvihill at its Eugene, Oregon home. In more than 50 years of operation, NAAG has trained 17 Olympic athletes and more than 75 National Champions, making it one of the most accomplished gymnastics academies in American history and one of Oregon’s most distinguished sports institutions.
NAAG’s guiding mission is to provide recreational and competitive gymnastics programs that embody and instill the traits of hard work, ethics, time management, perseverance, courage, respect, and appreciation for the efforts of others while training world-class gymnasts. Where fitness is fun and confidence grows is not just NAAG’s motto but a genuine reflection of the environment the program has built over five decades of service to the Eugene gymnastics community and the nation.
THE GYM
NAAG operates from its facility at 1205 Oak Patch Road in Eugene, Oregon, providing the Lane County community with access to a gymnastics facility steeped in five decades of competitive excellence and community service. The gym features trampolines, beams, bars, a foam pit, open floor, and designated play areas, supporting NAAG’s full range of programming from toddler recreational classes through advanced competitive team training and adult gymnastics and aerial arts.
The NAAG coaching staff carries forward the tradition of excellence established by Richard and Linda Mulvihill, led by meet director Velinda Hunter and program director Linda Mulvihill alongside Bryan Raschilla, Lee Blachly, and David Mulvihill. NAAG also hosts the annual Emerald Team Challenge, one of the Pacific Northwest’s largest gymnastics invitationals, which draws more than 50 clubs from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Canada each year.
