Pantheon School of Gymnastics

OVERVIEW

Pantheon School of Gymnastics in Hilo is the Big Island’s East Side gymnastics institution, with roots stretching back to the Hilo Gymnastics Club founded in 1972 — making it one of the oldest gymnastics organizations in the state of Hawaii. Established as a parent-based non-profit in 1979, Hilo Gymnastics Club developed a sponsorship program to support the travel fund for its competitive teams, and over the decades grew into Pantheon School of Gymnastics as the program expanded its reach and programming. Located at 484 Kalanikoa Street near Hilo Airport, Pantheon serves girls from preschool through teen years with Gymtot classes, recreational gymnastics, and a competitive team that competes at the local, state, regional, and national levels. The gym is dedicated to the promotion of friendship through the universal languages of athletic competition and artistic performance.

Pantheon School of Gymnastics is a USAG member club, hosting the annual Princess Classic — one of Hilo’s signature gymnastics events each fall season — and sending competitive athletes to state, regional (Region 2), and national meets throughout the year.

THE GYM

The Kalanikoa Street facility is conveniently located near Hilo International Airport, providing easy access for families across the Hilo, Keaau, Pahoa, and broader eastern Big Island communities. Pantheon’s more than 50-year history in Hilo makes it a cornerstone of youth athletics on the rainy, lush side of the Big Island, with generations of families passing through the program since its 1972 founding.

PROGRAMS

Gymtot Classes

The Gymtot program serves students ages 3.5 to 5, building large motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and depth perception through age-appropriate gymnastics fundamentals. Gymtot introduces young students to the joy of gymnastics in a safe, fun environment while developing the physical foundation for the recreational program.

Recreational Gymnastics

Girls’ recreational classes advance from beginner through advanced skill levels covering all major gymnastics events. The progressive curriculum moves each student forward based on skill mastery, with the advanced levels providing preparation for athletes interested in pursuing the competitive team.

Competitive Team

The Pantheon competitive team competes at local, state, regional (Region 2), and national levels, with athletes ages 6 through 18 preparing through intensive training under the guidance of experienced coaches. Pantheon also hosts the Princess Classic, a fall invitational that is one of Hilo’s signature gymnastics events each season.
