Davis Diamonds Gymnastics

OVERVIEW

Davis Diamonds Gymnastics Training Center was founded in 2002 by Head Coaches Hilde Aune and James Major, who met in Norway while both were attending graduate school for sports science. After careers that took them from Norway to France, then Salt Lake City to Malaysia, and finally back to James’s childhood home of Davis, California, the pair opened Davis Diamonds to fill a need for quality gymnastics instruction in the Yolo County community. Their new facility at 2800 Cowell Boulevard opened in January 2015 and has served the Davis, Woodland, and West Sacramento communities ever since.

Coach Hilde brings over 40 years of gymnastics coaching experience, including seven years coaching the UC Davis Women’s Gymnastics Team. Coach James holds a Master’s degree in exercise physiology and has been a professional coach for over 30 years. Their combined expertise creates a program that is simultaneously academically rigorous and deeply student-centered, serving athletes from walking age through high school with both recreational and competitive pathways.

THE GYM

Located at 2800 Cowell Boulevard in Davis, the gym is a well-equipped facility serving families throughout Yolo County and adjacent areas. Davis Diamonds fields both women’s and men’s competitive teams that compete in NorCal-sanctioned events, and the gym’s boys’ team has become one of the more active men’s programs in the NorCal circuit. The coaching staff’s academic backgrounds in sports science and exercise physiology are reflected in a technically serious and methodical approach to skill development at all levels.

PROGRAMS

Preschool and Kinder Classes

Gymnastics classes for children from walking age through kindergarten provide age-appropriate motor development and an introduction to gymnastics fundamentals. These classes use developmental play-based approaches aligned with the coaches’ backgrounds in sports science and physical education.

Recreational Gymnastics

School-age recreational classes are available for boys and girls at multiple levels, covering floor, bars, beam, vault, and tumbling. The curriculum progresses systematically with skill-based advancement appropriate to each student’s development.

Competitive Teams

Davis Diamonds fields both girls’ and boys’ competitive teams in the NorCal circuit, with the boys’ program being a notable feature of the gym’s competitive offering. Athletes compete in both the Junior Olympic and Xcel programs depending on their level and goals.

Monday through Friday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Sunday: Closed
