Profile
OVERVIEW
Peninsula Gymnastics was founded in 1995 by Mikhail Margulis, Anna Margulis, and Mark Kachko with a mission to create a professional gymnastics training center that promotes healthy lifestyles in youth through sport. Now operating from two locations in San Mateo and San Carlos, Peninsula Gymnastics has become a pillar of the Peninsula gymnastics community, teaching thousands of children self-confidence, the art of performance, and good sportsmanship over its three decades of operation. The San Mateo location at 1740 Leslie Street serves as the larger of the two facilities, with a 15,000-square-foot state-of-the-art training space.
The San Mateo facility is fully equipped with an Olympic-size floor, two in-ground trampolines, an in-ground foam pit, a tumble trak, a power tumbling strip, and two vaulting stations. The gym offers preschool through competitive classes for all ages and fields competitive teams in the NorCal Junior Olympic and Xcel programs. All coaches are USA Gymnastics certified, CPR trained, first aid certified, and background checked.
THE GYM
Located at 1740 Leslie Street in San Mateo, the facility provides a comprehensive training environment for recreational and competitive athletes. The gym is open seven days a week and hosts birthday parties, seasonal camps, Parents Night Out events, annual shows, and in-house competitions throughout the year. The program was taken over by Courtney Johnson in 1999, who has continued to develop the Peninsula Gymnastics legacy across both Bay Area locations.
PROGRAMS
Preschool and Recreational Classes
Classes are available for children from preschool age through teens at multiple skill levels, with separate boys’ and girls’ class tracks. The curriculum is structured to build skills progressively in a supportive and encouraging environment. A free trial class is available for new students before committing to enrollment.
Competitive Team
