Profile
OVERVIEW
West Coast Olympic Gymnastics Academy (WCOGA) opened its doors in November 2004 with the goal of developing a gymnastics program to fit the desires and needs of all athletes from age three and up. Now operating from its 15,000-square-foot facility at 1056 Serpentine Lane in Pleasanton, WCOGA has grown into one of the most respected gymnastics programs in the Tri-Valley area, serving over 1,000 athletes since its founding and building what has been recognized as one of the most successful boys’ competitive gymnastics teams in California — at one point ranked in the top ten in the country. WCOGA’s girls’ Xcel teams have been equally successful, earning consistent regional recognition.
WCOGA serves children ages three through nineteen with recreational classes for boys and girls, competitive team programs, summer camps, open gym nights, and Kids Night Out events. The gym is a NorCal member club and a USA Gymnastics member, and its coaching philosophy is built on the belief that children learn best when they enjoy what they are doing — nurturing both physical and mental growth while building foundation skills that safely prepare athletes for advanced skill development.
THE GYM
The 15,000-square-foot Serpentine Lane facility is equipped with Olympic-standard men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics apparatus meeting USA Gymnastics specifications. The gym features padded floors and equipment areas throughout, and two uniquely designed foam pits that allow students to safely practice vault, tumbling, rings, high bar, and uneven bar skills. Located in Pleasanton’s Stoneridge Industrial Park, WCOGA is easily accessible from I-580 and serves families from Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore, San Ramon, and throughout the Tri-Valley.
PROGRAMS
Preschool and Recreational Classes
Classes begin at age three with preschool gymnastics and progress through multiple recreational levels for boys and girls. WCOGA’s boys’ program is particularly strong, feeding one of the most accomplished boys’ competitive teams in Northern California. Girls’ recreational classes follow the same progressive, safety-first curriculum.
Competitive Teams
WCOGA’s boys’ competitive team has been ranked in the nation’s top ten, producing numerous regional and national champions. The girls’ Xcel competitive teams are also award-winning, with strong finishes at NorCal regional events. Both boys’ and girls’ teams are active in USA Gymnastics-sanctioned competition throughout the season.
