MEGA Gymnastics

OVERVIEW

MEGA Gymnastics is located at 710 East Kay Avenue in Mitchell, owned and operated by Audra Rew — the head coach of the Mitchell Kernels high school gymnastics team — and dedicated to giving children a positive environment to grow and develop strong life skills through gymnastics, cheer, and ninja classes. Mitchell is the home of the Corn Palace and the county seat of Davison County, a city of around 15,000 in the James River valley of south-central South Dakota that serves as a regional hub for a large rural area. MEGA holds USA Gymnastics membership and competes within the USAG upper Midwest region, fielding a competitive team (MEGA Team) alongside the Mitchell Kernels high school program that Audra coaches — making MEGA the de facto training home for Mitchell’s high school gymnastics program and the primary competitive gymnastics destination for the south-central South Dakota region. Registration is open year-round with all fees prorated, so families can enroll at any point in the session without penalty for joining mid-session.

MEGA operates on a text-first communication model: families are asked to text (605) 770-8454 even during business hours because coaches are on the floor with students when the gym is open and cannot answer calls mid-coaching. The gym serves children ages 1 to 18 with gymnastics, cheer, ninja, open gyms, and birthday parties throughout the school year and summer.

THE GYM

The MEGA Gymnastics facility at 710 East Kay Avenue operates Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Wednesday and Friday from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM during the school year, with extended summer hours Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM (Friday until 3:00 PM) from May through mid-August. Open gym and birthday party reservations are available throughout the year.

PROGRAMS

Gymnastics, Cheer, and Ninja (Ages 1-18)

MEGA offers gymnastics, cheerleading, and ninja classes for children ages 1 through 18 with rolling registration open year-round and prorated fees for mid-session enrollment, giving Mitchell families maximum flexibility in getting their children started in the program.

MEGA Team and Mitchell Kernels

The MEGA Team competes within the USAG upper Midwest region, and Audra Rew’s dual role as MEGA owner and Mitchell Kernels head coach creates a seamless competitive development pathway from club gymnastics through the high school program for Mitchell-area athletes.
