Legacy Gym

OVERVIEW

Legacy Gym is a gymnastics, cheer, and tumbling facility serving Rock Springs and Sweetwater County in southwest Wyoming. Founded on October 1, 2012 by head coach Christy Doak, the gym was born from a lifelong passion for gymnastics shared by Christy and her daughter Ali. Christy has coached gymnastics for 37 years, beginning in summer programs and college gym roles before becoming the head gymnastics coach at Rock Springs High School. After the WHSAA discontinued high school gymnastics, she channeled that experience into opening Legacy Gym.

Legacy Gym specializes in small classes with individual attention, creating a family-focused environment where athletes from age 4 through high school can develop in gymnastics, cheerleading, and tumbling. The gym competes in USAG-sanctioned meets throughout Wyoming and belongs to Region 3 (Wyoming, Colorado, Arkansas, Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma).

THE GYM

Legacy Gym is located at 1891 Yellowstone Road in Rock Springs. The facility was expanded in 2016 to allow for additional floor and vault space along with higher ceilings to accommodate athletes in bar routines at upper competitive levels. Ali Doak, who competed as a Level 8 gymnast and went on to become a collegiate diver, returned home after college to co-coach the program alongside her mother. Ali has been coaching for over 13 years.

The gym hosts birthday parties in multiple formats — dodgeball, nerf gun, ninja, obstacle course, and gymnastics — providing a popular venue for youth celebrations in the Rock Springs community.

PROGRAMS

Recreational Gymnastics

Classes for children ages 4 and up build foundational gymnastics skills across all major apparatus. Instruction emphasizes proper technique, strength, and flexibility in a structured, encouraging environment with small class sizes that allow for individual coaching attention.

Tumbling

Tumbling classes develop floor-based gymnastics skills for athletes seeking general athletic development or preparation for cheer competition. Classes are available at multiple skill levels.

Competitive Gymnastics Team

Legacy Gym’s competitive team comprises approximately 25 athletes ranging from ages 7 to 14. The team competes in USAG Levels 3–7 and travels to meets throughout the country during the competitive season. New team members commit by August 15th of each year, with summer serving as a trial period for prospective athletes. Team practices run 6–10 hours per week.

Cheer

Cheerleading classes and programs develop tumbling, stunting, jumps, and performance skills for athletes interested in competitive or recreational cheer at all experience levels.

Birthday Parties

Legacy Gym hosts 2-hour birthday parties with 1 hour of activity of choice, followed by cake, ice cream, and presents. Party themes include gymnastics, dodgeball, nerf gun, ninja, and obstacle course events.
