Star Gymnastics

OVERVIEW

Star Gymnastics is a privately owned gymnastics facility serving Star Valley in Lincoln County, Wyoming. Founded in 2002 by owner Maurie Erickson — a professional USA Gymnastics member since 2005 — Star Gymnastics has built a strong reputation across the valley for producing state and regional champions while maintaining a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. The gym is conveniently located in the middle of Star Valley, just three miles south of Thayne on County Road 126, and serves families throughout the Afton, Thayne, and surrounding communities.

Star Gymnastics believes that the benefits of the sport are endless for any child at any level, and designs its programs to help every athlete develop agility, balance, coordination, speed, strength, and work ethic while cultivating a lifelong love of physical activity.

THE GYM

The Star Gymnastics facility is equipped with a full complement of gymnastics apparatus including balance beams, uneven bars, vault table, spring floor, parallel bars, pommel horse, rings, and trampoline. This equipment base supports both recreational programming and competitive training through the upper USAG levels. The gym is a member club of USA Gymnastics and trains athletes in the USAG competitive and Xcel program structures.

Star Valley’s rural setting means the gym draws from a wide geographic area, serving as the primary gymnastics resource for the entire Star Valley corridor. The gym’s contact number for enrollment is (307) 248-1454.

PROGRAMS

Recreational Gymnastics

Classes for boys and girls of all ages cover gymnastics fundamentals through advanced recreational skills. Recreational programming encompasses tumbling, balance beam, uneven bars, vault, and floor exercise progressions appropriate to each student’s age and development.

Tumbling

Tumbling classes develop floor-based gymnastics skills from basic rolls and cartwheels through advanced power tumbling sequences. Classes serve athletes who want to develop tumbling for gymnastics, cheer, or general athletic development.

Jr Cheer

The Junior Cheer program introduces young athletes to cheerleading fundamentals including stunts, jumps, and performance skills, building on the gymnastics foundation developed in recreational classes.

Ninja Classes

Ninja-style classes for boys and girls combine obstacle course challenges, strength training, and gymnastics movement in a high-energy, non-traditional format that emphasizes athleticism and confidence.

Competitive Program

Star Gymnastics has produced numerous state and regional champions in its competitive program, which operates within the USAG structure. Athletes demonstrating requisite skills are invited to the competitive team and train toward participation at Wyoming state and regional meets.
