Profile
OVERVIEW
Summit Gymnastics Club is a competitive and recreational gymnastics program located in Buffalo, Wyoming, serving Johnson County and the surrounding communities of northern Wyoming. Founded and directed by Coach Hal Halverson — a former gymnast with over 30 years of involvement in the sport — Summit has operated for more than two decades as the primary gymnastics club for the Buffalo area. The gym is housed in a portion of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in the Richardson Park subdivision of Buffalo, providing a community-embedded setting that reflects the club’s close relationship with the families it serves.
Summit Gymnastics competes annually at the Wyoming State Gymnastics Championships and is a member of USA Gymnastics. The program is known for its deliberate, coach-driven approach to athlete advancement, with athletes invited to join the competitive team at Coach Hal’s discretion following extensive observation and evaluation.
THE GYM
The Summit facility at 201 Aspen Drive includes apparatus for recreational and competitive gymnastics training. The gym operates on a school-year schedule with fall and winter/spring sessions of 16 weeks each and a modified 12-week summer schedule. During the school year, the gym is open from 3:45 PM through 8:15 PM, making it accessible for families with school-age athletes. Summer hours shift to morning and early afternoon sessions.
Summit accepts checks, cash, and credit cards, with session fees paid at the beginning of each session. The gym offers a makeup class policy allowing students to attend a different day’s class when they miss their regular session, understanding that road conditions and family schedules can be challenging in rural Wyoming winters.
