OVERVIEW
Established in 1978, the Anchorage Gymnastics Association is one of Alaska’s longest-running and most respected gymnastics organizations. A nonprofit USAG member club, AGA has built a nationwide reputation for excellence over nearly five decades of service to the Anchorage community.AGA offers a wide range of gymnastics and educational services for children from preschool through high school. While the competitive program has produced national-level athletes, AGA takes equal pride in its work developing the physical and personal growth of every child who walks through its doors.
THE GYM
The Anchorage Gymnastics Association operates a progressive and well-equipped gymnastics facility at 525 W Potter Drive in Anchorage. Training begins with the fundamentals of gymnastics movement and progresses to the highest levels of skill, giving every athlete a clear and supported pathway from beginner to advanced competitor.AGA’s programs are designed to develop the whole athlete. Physical benefits include strength, balance, flexibility, speed, agility, rhythm, coordination, and timing. Mental benefits include discipline, perseverance, courage, self-confidence, and self-appreciation. Social benefits encompass helpfulness, pride in group achievement, and sportsmanship.Over the years, many AGA athletes have advanced to the national gymnastics scene, including the national finals. The gym is equally proud of the role it plays in helping young people develop into outstanding students and athletes who are mentally, socially, and physically prepared for the future.AGA is a welcoming facility for the entire family, offering programming from preschool through adult gymnastics, after-school care, summer camps, and more. Open enrollment is available for all recreational programs.
PROGRAMS AT THE GYM
Recreational Gymnastics
AGA’s recreational program provides structured and progressive gymnastics classes for children of all ages and skill levels. Classes begin with foundational skills and advance through Rec 1, Rec 2, and Rec 3, with each level building on the last. Rec 3 serves as the Pre-Team level, where gymnasts begin developing the skills needed for competitive team participation.Coaches focus on building self-confidence alongside physical skill, providing an environment where every child can experience the satisfaction of growth and achievement. Open enrollment is available and families commit on a monthly basis.

Competitive Team
AGA offers one of Alaska’s most comprehensive competitive gymnastics programs. The Women’s Development Program runs from Level 2 through Level 10, with athletes training year-round from 9 to 30 or more hours per week depending on their level. Athletes compete locally, regionally, and nationally.The Xcel Program is available for girls at Bronze through Sapphire levels and for boys at Bronze through Gold levels. Xcel provides a flexible and affordable competitive experience that allows gymnasts to build routines around their individual strengths. AGA also offers the International Elite program, including USA Gymnastics HOPES and Junior and Senior International Elite, for athletes pursuing competition at the highest levels of the sport.
Boys Gymnastics
AGA’s boys’ program builds strength, coordination, flexibility, and confidence through the six men’s events: floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and high bar. The Boys Team has earned dozens of individual and team titles, producing State, Regional, and National champions over more than 40 years of competition. Coaches attribute this success to strong basics, hard work, and consistent effort.
Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten
AGA offers a unique preschool and Pre-K program licensed by the Municipality of Anchorage. The program combines early childhood education with gymnastics activity, providing a well-rounded developmental experience for young children. It is one of the most distinctive early learning programs available in the Anchorage area.
Camps and After-School Care
AGA offers summer and winter gymnastics camps, giving children the opportunity for engaging and active extracurricular experiences during school breaks. After-school care is also available, providing families with a reliable and active option for childcare during the school year.
