Flips for Kids Gymnastics

OVERVIEW

Flips for Kids Gymnastics Center is Humboldt County’s primary gymnastics facility, located in Eureka at 1489 Hoover Street. The gym provides year-round gymnastics classes for children from walking age through the teen years, with a philosophy that every child is a star regardless of skill level. Flips for Kids is also home to the Redwood Coast Gymnastics Team, a competitive program that competes throughout the NorCal competitive season and has sent athletes to state and regional championships.

The gym holds a unique place as the hub of competitive gymnastics on California’s North Coast, with the Redwood Coast Gymnastics Team representing Humboldt County at meets across Northern California. In 2024, the team sent athletes to NorCal State Championships in Roseville, with several gymnasts qualifying for Regional Championships. The team’s coaches are USAG-certified and actively involved in the NorCal gymnastics community.

THE GYM

Flips for Kids is equipped with a range of gymnastics apparatus appropriate for recreational and competitive training. The gym hosts open play sessions for young children in addition to structured classes, and the facility is used for birthday parties and camps throughout the year. The Redwood Coast Gymnastics Team trains at the facility and participates in meets across Northern California, competing against clubs from the Bay Area and Sacramento regions.

PROGRAMS

Recreational Classes

Year-round classes are available for children from walking age through the teen years, with a level-based curriculum that progresses as students develop their skills. The ongoing class schedule allows children to continue at their own pace, building confidence and athleticism over time.

Redwood Coast Gymnastics Team

The competitive team program follows USA Gymnastics standards, competing at compulsory and optional levels. The team has produced Humboldt County’s highest-placing, highest-level gymnasts in recent memory, with athletes earning podium finishes at NorCal State Championships and qualifying to Regional Championships. Head Coach Brian Van Pelt leads the program with support from assistant coaches.

Open Play and Camps

Unstructured open play times for young children are available on weekday mornings, and weekend evening sessions are offered for older kids. Holiday break camps and birthday party packages round out the gym’s programming throughout the year.

Monday through Saturday: 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Sunday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
