OVERVIEW
Gymnastics Beat became a reality for owners Sam and Diana Shima in June 2003, when the couple — both gymnastics-trained since childhood — opened the doors of their 12,000-square-foot facility at 4589 West Jacquelyn Avenue in northwest Fresno. Built on a vision of a gym where families could come together in a safe, friendly, and fun environment, Gymnastics Beat has since grown into one of the Central Valley’s most comprehensive youth athletics centers, with over 40 qualified coaches and staff serving students from 6 months through adults. Sam continues to lead the program today, with a team recognized for professionalism and a genuine passion for the sport.
Gymnastics Beat is a NorCal member club and USA Gymnastics member competing in the regional circuit. Its acrobatic gymnastics program fields nationally competitive teams, and the gym’s NGA competitive program provides a rewarding gymnastics experience for those seeking structured competition without the extensive commitment of the USAG Junior Olympic track. The gym is also a licensed NinjaZone affiliate, an all-star cheer program host, and a charter school partnership site — reflecting the breadth of its community engagement.
THE GYM
The 12,000-square-foot West Jacquelyn Avenue facility features two spring floors, regulation gymnastics apparatus for all events, trampolines, and a 50-foot Tumble Track. The gym is air-conditioned and designed to accommodate simultaneous recreational, team, and specialty programming. The adult gymnastics open gym, Pyramid Cheer all-star program, and NGA team distinguish Gymnastics Beat as one of the most diverse gymnastics centers in Fresno County.
PROGRAMS
Junior Beats, Pre-K, and Baby Classes
Programming begins for children as young as 6 months with parent-and-baby movement classes and progresses through the Junior Beats preschool gymnastics curriculum. Pre-K classes bridge the gap between toddler programming and school-age recreational classes, building the motor skills and social readiness needed for structured gymnastics instruction.
Recreational Gymnastics, Tumbling, NinjaZone, and Cheer
Girls’ gymnastics classes at all levels, co-ed tumbling, licensed NinjaZone obstacle training, and all-star Pyramid Cheer provide a comprehensive recreational programming suite. Urban Gymnastics (parkour/tricking) and hip-hop classes are also offered for older students seeking high-energy movement alternatives.
Competitive Teams and Adult Open Gym
Gymnastics Beat’s acrobatic gymnastics team competes at regional and national levels, and the NGA competitive program fields teams at multiple levels. Adult open gym and adult gymnastics classes make Gymnastics Beat one of the few Central Valley programs to serve athletes across the full age spectrum.
