OVERVIEW

Lee’s United Gymnastics Academy (LUGA) is the Central Valley’s premier gymnastics program in Kings County, located at 505 West 6th Street in the heart of Hanford. Founded on the belief that gymnastics is one of the most comprehensive exercise programs available to young athletes — combining strength, flexibility, speed, balance, coordination, power, and discipline into a fun and challenging sport — LUGA provides instruction for children from 18 months through 18 years old as well as adult gymnastics classes. The program is welcoming to new students year-round and accepts all ability levels, from first-timers to those seeking competitive team placement.

LUGA is a NorCal member club and maintains memberships with the National Gymnastics Association, Northern California Women’s Gymnastics Association, and Northern California Men’s Gymnastics. The gym is notable for fielding both a competitive girls’ team program and a competitive boys’ team, with the owner coaching the boys personally — a rarity among Central Valley gymnastics programs.

THE GYM

The Sixth Street facility is centrally located in Hanford, easily accessible from Highway 198. The gym is equipped for both boys’ and girls’ artistic gymnastics, with dedicated space for the competitive team programs alongside the recreational class schedule. All coaches hold Red Cross Standard First Aid and Child and Infant CPR certifications, and coaching staff regularly attend training workshops through USA Gymnastics and NorCal Gymnastics.

PROGRAMS

Toddler and Preschool Classes

Classes begin at 18 months with toddler gymnastics focused on motor development and body awareness. Preschool-age classes progress through age-appropriate gymnastics fundamentals in a nurturing, structured environment designed for young learners.

Recreational Classes for Girls and Boys

Girls’ and boys’ recreational classes are offered at multiple skill levels through age 18, with both programs aligned with NGA and USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic standards. Adult classes provide a rare option for adult athletes and parents interested in gymnastics instruction.

Competitive Team (Girls and Boys)

LUGA’s competitive team program is active in the NorCal circuit, fielding both girls’ and boys’ teams — an uncommon combination in a single Central Valley gym. Team placement is by invitation or evaluation, and the owner coaches the boys’ team directly.
