Profile
OVERVIEW
Broadway Gymnastic School (BGS) has been “helping children grow” since 1979, establishing itself over more than four decades as one of the most storied and comprehensive gymnastics programs in Los Angeles. Located at 5433 Beethoven Street in the Playa Vista/Mar Vista area of West Los Angeles — directly across from Playa Vista at the corner of Beethoven and Jefferson — BGS operates from a 29,000-square-foot facility that is not just a gymnastics gym but a full developmental center for children and teens. Voted best gymnastics program in Los Angeles by KNBC News, Broadway Gymnastic School is led by founders who bring extensive backgrounds in both special education and gymnastics instruction, and its year-round, seven-days-a-week programming reaches students ages 18 months through adult across a remarkably diverse set of disciplines and programs.
BGS is a SoCal member club and USA Gymnastics member. All staff pass state and federal background checks, hold USA Gymnastics Safety certification, CPR and first aid certifications, and continuously advance their education through clinics and seminars. The gym’s pioneering Special Education program for children with special needs — guided by instructors with formal educational backgrounds in movement therapy and special education — makes BGS a unique and irreplaceable resource for the Los Angeles community.
THE GYM
The 29,000-square-foot Beethoven Street facility is one of the largest gymnastics and youth development centers in the greater Los Angeles area. The building provides ample space for simultaneous class groups, team training, school group programming, and special events throughout the year. BGS is the rare gymnastics facility with full wheelchair accessibility, on-site transportation for school group programs, and a year-round calendar that spans every season and school break. Birthday parties, camps, and Parents’ Night Out events fill the gym’s community calendar alongside its regular class schedule.
PROGRAMS
Preschool, Recreational, and Rainbow Level Gymnastics
Classes begin at 18 months and advance through BGS’s Rainbow Level system — Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet — for girls and boys through the teen years. Each level has a defined skill set, and the Rainbow curriculum ensures every student knows exactly where they are in their development and what comes next.
Specialty Classes
BGS’s class catalog extends well beyond the standard gymnastics curriculum to include tumbling and trampoline, cheer, dance (ballet, jazz, hip hop), circus arts, stunts and tricks, aerial silks, fitness, and gymnastics for teens — giving families a breadth of youth athletic programming under one enormous roof.
Special Education Programs
BGS’s Special Education classes and camps are recognized throughout Los Angeles as among the best of their kind, designed specifically for children with autism and other special needs by instructors trained in both gymnastics and movement therapy. This program is one of BGS’s most distinctive and valued contributions to the West LA community.
Competitive Teams (Boys and Girls)
USA Gymnastics boys’ and girls’ competitive teams are available by invitation, providing a complete Junior Olympic competitive pathway for athletes who progress through the recreational program and demonstrate the interest and ability to compete at the SoCal level and beyond.
