OVERVIEW

PowerKids Center in Palm Desert is the Coachella Valley’s premier gymnastics and multi-sport youth activity center, operating from a 14,000-square-foot facility at 77962 Palapas Road. Home to the nationally recognized Aftershock competitive gymnastics team, PowerKids serves children and youth with recreational gymnastics, the Aftershock competitive program, birthday parties, school’s-out day camps, Friday Night Open Gym, and Parents’ Night Out events throughout the year. The gym’s mission is to develop self-confidence, resilience, and physical fitness in every child who walks through its doors — building gymnasts who are not just athletes but beacons of strength and unwavering self-belief.

PowerKids is a SoCal member club and USA Gymnastics member. The Aftershock competitive team has a long history of placing athletes at the state and regional levels and has helped numerous athletes transition successfully to college gymnastics programs. The 14,000-square-foot facility is the largest dedicated gymnastics and youth activity center in the desert communities.

THE GYM

The Palapas Road facility is a large, modern gymnastics and multi-sport center equipped with state-of-the-art gymnastics apparatus alongside the open gym and event infrastructure needed to support PowerKids’ diverse programming calendar. The gym hosts shows, camps, birthday parties, and special events throughout the year, and the Friday Night Open Gym is a popular community staple for Palm Desert families. At least one certified CPR and First Aid staff member is present whenever children are on the floor.

PROGRAMS

Preschool and Recreational Gymnastics

Classes are available for young children through teens, covering all major gymnastics events in a safe, encouraging environment. PowerKids’ recreational program is designed to give every child a strong physical and mental foundation through the sport of gymnastics, with dedicated preschool programming for the youngest students.

Aftershock Competitive Team

The Aftershock team competes in SoCal-sanctioned events with a coaching philosophy built on constructive, nurturing methods that have produced champions at notable competitions and helped athletes transition smoothly to college teams. The team values character growth, teamwork, and athleticism alongside competitive achievement.

Special Events and Camps

Friday Night Open Gym, Parents’ Night Out, school’s-out day camps, birthday parties in the 14,000-square-foot facility, and an annual show round out PowerKids’ rich community events calendar throughout the year.
