Woodland Gymnastics

OVERVIEW

Woodland Gymnastics is one of the oldest gymnastics clubs in Northern California, founded in 1972 by William LaQuard as a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality gymnastics training for all youth in Yolo County and surrounding areas. Now known formally as C.A.T.S. (Cats Athletics Team Sports), the gym continues its 50-year-plus mission from its Commerce Avenue location in Woodland. With over 300 gymnast members, a diverse class offering, and a tradition of community service through sport, Woodland Gymnastics is a Yolo County institution.

The gym serves boys and girls from five months through 18 years, offering a year-round program that emphasizes fun, exploration, fitness, and the development of inner drive. The gym’s philosophy is to help kids build balance for life, teaching lessons through gymnastics that extend well beyond the sport into academics, relationships, and personal character.

THE GYM

Located at 1221 Commerce Avenue in Woodland, the gym operates primarily on weekday afternoons with class hours running Monday through Friday. The facility supports recreational gymnastics at multiple levels, men’s Junior Olympic team gymnastics, women’s team gymnastics, and parent-child classes. Woodland Gymnastics is a NorCal member club competing in the regional circuit.

PROGRAMS

Parent/Child and Recreational Classes

Parent-child classes introduce gymnastics to children as young as five months alongside their caregivers. Recreational programs progress through skill-based levels for boys and girls ages 18 months and older, with class structure appropriate to each age group.

Boys and Girls Team Gymnastics

Woodland fields both men’s and women’s Junior Olympic teams competing throughout the NorCal season. The boys’ program is a distinguishing feature, as relatively few community-based gyms in Northern California maintain active men’s team programs at the competitive level.

Birthday Parties and Events

Birthday parties and special events are available, and Woodland Elite cheerleading and tumbling classes operate under the affiliated Woodland Elite program, offering an expanded range of athletic activities for the community.

Friday through Sunday: Closed
