Kona Aerials Gymnastics

OVERVIEW

Kona Aerials Gymnastics has been the only gymnastics facility on the Kona (west) side of the Big Island of Hawaii since its founding in 1989. Located at 75-438 Hualalai Road in Kailua-Kona, Kona Aerials serves students ages 16 months through adult from its 12,000-square-foot facility equipped with foam pits, trampolines, and state-of-the-art gymnastics apparatus. Founded and led by owner and head coach Nannette, Kona Aerials is built on a philosophy as clear as it is enduring: it starts with a dream. Add a caring coach, a great curriculum, and years of practice, and that dream turns into one terrific grownup. Kona Aerials has consistently delivered on that promise for more than 35 years, making it one of the longest-serving gymnastics programs in the entire state of Hawaii.

Kona Aerials is a USAG member club and competes at the Hawaii state level and Region 2. Beyond competitive and recreational gymnastics, the gym offers one of the rarest program offerings in Hawaii: senior citizen fitness classes and adult gymnastics and tumbling, making Kona Aerials a true all-ages facility in every sense. Coach Nannette is widely described as a blessing to any gymnast lucky enough to train with her, and her 35+ years of personal investment in the Kona community is reflected in the trust families across the Big Island’s west side have placed in the program year after year.

THE GYM

The 12,000-square-foot Hualalai Road facility features foam pits, trampolines, and the full complement of gymnastics apparatus for both recreational and competitive programs. As the sole gymnastics facility on the Kona coast — a region spanning from Kailua-Kona through Holualoa, Keauhou, and the broader Kohala and Ka’u districts — Kona Aerials is an irreplaceable community resource for families and athletes across the entire western half of the Big Island.

PROGRAMS

Preschool and Recreational Gymnastics

Classes begin at 16 months and advance through recreational levels for girls and boys through the teen years. Recreational gymnastics covers all major events with coaching focused on developing life skills — commitment, leadership, time management, work ethic, and teamwork — alongside technical gymnastics skills at every level.

Adult and Senior Citizen Classes

Kona Aerials maintains adult gymnastics and tumbling classes as well as dedicated senior citizen fitness classes — one of the very few gymnastics facilities anywhere in Hawaii to offer programming specifically designed for older adults as a regular part of its schedule.

Competitive Team

The competitive team competes in USAG-sanctioned Hawaii state events and Region 2, representing the Kona community in the broader Hawaii gymnastics circuit and giving Big Island athletes competitive opportunities equivalent to those available on Oahu.
