Westside Dance and Gymnastics Academy

OVERVIEW

Westside Dance and Gymnastics Academy is Oregon’s largest and most decorated gymnastics program, operating three locations in Tigard and serving more than 500 students with an unmatched range of gymnastics, dance, and acrobatics programming. Founded in 1974 by Pam Westmoreland and expanded over five decades of continuous operation, Westside has earned both the USAG Oregon Compulsory Club of the Year and Optional Club of the Year honors and is home to Oregon’s first youth Acrobatics and Tumbling competitive team.

Westside’s philosophy is built on creating a lifelong love of gymnastics and movement arts in a welcoming, encouraging, and family-centered environment. The program serves athletes from beginner recreational levels through advanced competitive gymnastics, with three Tigard locations designed to provide accessible, high-quality gymnastics and dance programming for the entire southwest Portland and Tualatin Valley communities.

THE GYM

Westside operates three locations in Tigard, Oregon. The Academy is located at 11632 SW Pacific Highway, the Mini Gym at 13727 SW Pacific Highway, and the Training Center at 9896 SW Tigard Street. Together these three facilities provide Oregon families with unmatched access to gymnastics, dance, tumbling, and acrobatics instruction, housing state-of-the-art equipment and dedicated spaces for every level of programming from toddler through elite competitive training.

The Westside coaching staff is among the most experienced and accomplished in the state, with coaches who have developed athletes to compete at the state, regional, and national levels throughout the program’s 50-year history. Westside’s multi-location model ensures class availability and scheduling flexibility that single-facility programs simply cannot match, making it the top choice for gymnastics-focused families throughout the Tigard and southwest Portland area.

PROGRAMS AT THE GYM

Preschool and Recreational Gymnastics

Westside offers recreational gymnastics classes for children starting at preschool age through teens, progressing through a structured and progressive curriculum that develops gymnastics technique, physical fitness, and personal confidence at every level. Classes are available across all three Tigard locations throughout the week, with broad scheduling options to accommodate southwest Portland families.

Competitive Team Oregon’s Most Decorated Program

Westside fields competitive teams in both compulsory and optional USAG Junior Olympic gymnastics, earning both the Compulsory Club of the Year and Optional Club of the Year honors from USAG Oregon. Athletes compete at the regional and national levels, with Westside’s multi-level coaching staff providing technical expertise and competitive preparation that has produced champions throughout the program’s five decades.

Acrobatics and Tumbling, Dance, and Community Programs

Westside is home to Oregon’s first youth Acrobatics and Tumbling competitive team, adding a distinctive and dynamic competitive program to its already exceptional gymnastics curriculum. Metro Dance Academy and dance programming are also available, along with birthday parties, summer camps, and open gym sessions that make Westside one of the most complete youth movement arts destinations in Oregon.
