CORE Athletics

OVERVIEW

CORE Athletics is located at 618 South Rowley Street in Mitchell, a gymnastics program devoted to improving children’s fitness in a fun and encouraging environment while developing life skills through gymnastics. The acronym CORE stands for Confidence, Optimism, Respect, Effort, and the values of Fun, Strength, Fitness, Teamwork, and Flexibility — a stated mission that goes beyond skill-building to encompass the full character development that structured gymnastics training offers young athletes. CORE Athletics is co-directed by Christy (605-770-9761) and Nicole (605-770-5497) and offers Parent and Me classes for the youngest participants, Fundamental Gymnastics classes across age-appropriate levels, and a competitive team program for athletes ready to advance. Registration is managed through the Jackrabbit online parent portal and the Under the Sea Invitational meet hosted by CORE Athletics has become a fixture on the South Dakota gymnastics competition calendar.

Mitchell has two dedicated gymnastics programs — CORE Athletics at 618 South Rowley Street and MEGA Gymnastics at 710 East Kay Avenue — giving Mitchell’s family community two quality gymnastics options in a city of 15,000, an unusual concentration of gymnastics programming for a market of this size that reflects the deep gymnastics culture fostered by South Dakota’s nationally recognized high school gymnastics tradition.

THE GYM

The CORE Athletics facility at 618 South Rowley Street is equipped for Parent and Me gymnastics, Fundamental Gymnastics classes across multiple age levels, and competitive team training. Parent and Me and Fundamental Gymnastics

CORE Athletics offers Parent and Me classes for the youngest participants and Fundamental Gymnastics classes at multiple age-appropriate levels for school-age athletes, with a curriculum built around the CORE values of Confidence, Optimism, Respect, Effort, and the physical fundamentals of gymnastics training.

Competitive Team

The CORE Athletics competitive team trains within the USAG upper Midwest structure and hosts the Under the Sea Invitational meet at the Mitchell facility, giving South Dakota and surrounding region athletes an additional competition opportunity close to home in south-central South Dakota.
