Gymnastics East (Bellevue)

OVERVIEW

Gymnastics East has been serving the Greater Eastside since 1979, offering gymnastics instruction and competitive team programming for children ages 18 months through 18 years. Owned and operated by Kim Thomson, who began as a student at the gym before returning as a coach and purchasing the business in 2000, Gymnastics East is built on a genuine belief that raising a child’s level of self-esteem helps them achieve. The gym is a USAG Safety Certified and USAG Designated National Training Center, with a competitive team that consistently ranks among the top programs in the state and region.

Gymnastics East operates two Eastside locations: the main Bellevue facility at 13425 SE 30th Street and the Issaquah location at 1680 NW Mall Street. Both locations offer recreational programming, with the Bellevue gym also hosting the competitive team and a foam pit. Cheerleading classes are available at the Issaquah location.

THE GYM

Gymnastics East Bellevue operates at 13425 SE 30th Street Suite 2A in Bellevue, Washington. The facility features the full range of gymnastics apparatus, a foam pit, and dedicated team training spaces for competitive athletes at the Compulsory, Optional, and Xcel levels. The gym offers a trial class option for new students on a space-available basis, and a Mini Private lesson format for one-on-one instruction with a Senior Coach for children ages 6 through 5th grade.

The coaching team at Gymnastics East is all USAG certified and attends national workshops annually. The competitive program has produced state, regional, and national champions and has helped numerous graduating seniors earn collegiate gymnastics scholarships. Kim Thomson continues to lead the gym with the same passion for the sport and belief in the power of gymnastics to develop well-rounded, confident young people that drew her back to the gym as a coach decades ago.

PROGRAMS AT THE GYM

Parent-Tot and Preschool Gymnastics

Gymnastics East offers parent-tot classes for children 18 months through 3 years and Tiny Tot classes for ages 3 through kindergarten. These programs develop early motor skills, balance, social interaction, and a love of physical activity using beam, bars, floor, and trampoline in age-appropriate settings.

Classes run Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM, Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM, and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM. To enroll, please call (425) 644-8117 or visit gymeast.com.

Recreational Gymnastics

Gymnastics East offers girls and boys recreational classes for children 1st through 5th grade and high school girls classes at the Bellevue location. Boys programs include Mini Eagles/Eagles at Level 1 Beginner and Falcons/Hawks at Level 2 by skill evaluation. All recreational classes are designed to prepare students for future progression and provide the foundational movement skills that carry over into all other sports.

Competitive Team

Gymnastics East fields competitive teams at the Compulsory, Optional, and Xcel levels as a USAG Designated National Training Center. The program consistently wins state, regional, and national awards and has helped many senior athletes earn collegiate gymnastics scholarships. Team coaches are all USAG certified and attend national workshops annually to stay current with the best practices in coaching and athlete development.
