Grace Gymnastics Center (Lakewood Family YMCA)

OVERVIEW

Grace Gymnastics Center is the USAG-affiliated gymnastics program operating within the Lakewood Family YMCA in Lakewood, Washington. Led by Gymnastics Director and head coach Kevin Milliren, Grace Gymnastics offers recreational, pre-team, and competitive gymnastics for girls from walking age through 18 years and boys from walking age through 10 years. A YMCA membership is required to participate in the program, with recreational and preschool classes included in the price of membership.

Grace Gymnastics is distinctive among Washington state programs in its participation in the annual Y Nationals, where YMCA gymnastics teams from across the country compete for national titles each June. This gives Grace athletes access to a national competitive stage that extends well beyond the typical regional meet circuit, providing an exciting and meaningful goal for developing competitive gymnasts.

THE GYM

Grace Gymnastics Center is located within the Lakewood Family YMCA at 9715 Lakewood Drive SW in Lakewood, Washington. The YMCA campus includes a fitness center, indoor track, pool, and comprehensive youth programming, providing a rich and active environment for participating families. The gymnastics facility within the YMCA supports both recreational class programming and competitive team training under the direction of Coach Kevin Milliren.

Kevin Milliren has led the Grace Gymnastics program for many years, building a competitive team that has earned national titles at Y Nationals while maintaining a strong culture of family, development, and genuine pride in each athlete’s progress. His commitment to the program is reflected in the long-term success of Grace athletes at the state, regional, and national levels.

PROGRAMS AT THE GYM

Recreational and Preschool Gymnastics

Grace Gymnastics offers preschool and recreational gymnastics classes for girls from walking age through 18 years and boys from walking age through 10 years, included with YMCA membership. Classes develop foundational gymnastics skills, balance, strength, and coordination in a fun and age-appropriate setting, with a pre-team track available for athletes preparing for competitive gymnastics.

Competitive Team

Grace Gymnastics fields competitive teams in both the USAG Developmental Program and the Xcel Program. Try-outs are held throughout the year for athletes who demonstrate the skill and readiness for the competitive team. The program competes at State Championships, Regional Championships, and Y Nationals in late June, where YMCA teams from across the country compete for national titles. Grace Gymnastics has a track record of national competitive success and produces athletes who go on to compete at the collegiate level.
