Klahhane Gymnastics

OVERVIEW

Klahhane Gymnastics is a community nonprofit gymnastics program in Port Angeles, Washington, founded in 2009 and dedicated to quality instruction while promoting self-esteem and confidence for each student through participation in and enjoyment of gymnastics. The program serves children ages 2 through 18 on the Olympic Peninsula, providing one of the only dedicated gymnastics programs in the region and serving as an important athletic resource for families throughout Clallam County.

Executive Director Janet Urfer leads the program with a commitment to making gymnastics accessible and meaningful for all participants. As a nonprofit, Klahhane Gymnastics exists to serve the broader Port Angeles community rather than operate for profit, with all program revenues reinvested into facility maintenance, coaching quality, and participant programming.

THE GYM

Klahhane Gymnastics operates at 3318 E Acorn Lane in Port Angeles, Washington, providing a dedicated gymnastics facility for families on the Olympic Peninsula. The facility supports a full range of programming from preschool through competitive team, with apparatus appropriate for all event categories. Klahhane is the primary gymnastics facility serving the Port Angeles and greater Clallam County community, making it an essential resource for families throughout the region who want access to quality gymnastics instruction without traveling to the mainland.

The gym offers birthday parties, field trips, and open gym opportunities in addition to its regular class programming, providing a variety of ways for families and community groups to engage with the facility. As a community nonprofit, Klahhane Gymnastics is governed by its mission of service to the Port Angeles area and maintains a genuine commitment to each student’s individual experience and development.

PROGRAMS AT THE GYM

Preschool and Parent-Child Gymnastics

Klahhane Gymnastics offers parent-child gymnastics classes for children ages 2 and 3 and preschool gymnastics for children through kindergarten age. These programs introduce foundational gymnastics movements in an age-appropriate and nurturing format designed to build motor skills, coordination, and confidence in the youngest participants.

Recreational Gymnastics

Klahhane Gymnastics offers recreational gymnastics classes for children from 1st through 8th grade, structured progressively to develop gymnastics skills across all events in a fun and supportive setting. The program is open to children of all skill levels and backgrounds, with coaches committed to meeting each student where they are in their development.

Competitive Team and Xcel Program

Klahhane Gymnastics fields a USAG Girls competitive team at Levels 4 through 7, as well as a pre-competitive class for athletes building toward team readiness. The Xcel Program provides a recreational optional competitive pathway for athletes who want competitive experience with a more flexible training commitment. Adult gymnastics classes are also available for adults seeking to learn or return to the sport.
