OVERVIEW
Emerald City Gymnastics Academy is a premier gymnastics facility in Redmond, Washington, committed to developing happy, healthy, and confident athletes from 6 months through 18 years. With a tagline of giving kids a jump on life, ECGA combines a visually inviting environment with state-of-the-art facilities and a coaching staff recognized for its genuine care, professionalism, and skill in nurturing each child’s growth in the sport.
ECGA offers continuous year-round enrollment with prorated tuition, making it easy for families to get started at any time. A first class is free for new students. Programming includes parent-tot and preschool classes, recreational gymnastics for boys and girls, an adaptive gymnastics class for children with special needs, tumbling, competitive teams, birthday parties, open gyms, and a Drop-In Play Care option for siblings and other children whose families are at the gym.
THE GYM
Emerald City Gymnastics Academy operates at 17965 NE 65th Street in Redmond, Washington, providing Eastside families with a spacious, well-maintained gymnastics facility. The gym features professional-grade equipment for all major women’s and men’s gymnastics events, a foam pit, in-ground trampolines, and a pro shop stocked with leotards and gymnastics accessories from brands including Destira, Snowflake, Plum, Pelle, GK, and Dare Devil.
The coaching staff is led by Head Coaches Sarah Flores and Jenna Hamala-Smith on the competitive side, and is consistently praised by families for patience, kindness, and a structured, safety-focused approach to skill progression. ECGA follows the Lake Washington School District calendar for weather-related closures. Open gym sessions are held the first and third Saturday of each month in the evening, and Drop-In Play Care is available Monday through Thursday afternoons.
PROGRAMS AT THE GYM
Parent-Tot and Preschool Gymnastics
ECGA offers classes beginning at 6 months, including an infant developmental class with parent participation, parent-tot classes for ages 18 to 35 months, and preschool gymnastics through kindergarten age. Classes build motor skills, body awareness, and a love of movement in age-appropriate and nurturing formats.

Recreational Gymnastics and Tumbling
ECGA’s girls and boys recreational programs progress through multiple levels beginning at age 6, covering all major gymnastics events including bars, beam, floor, vault, and trampoline. Tumbling classes are available for ages 6 and up. An adaptive gymnastics class serves children and young adults with special needs, focusing on sensory integration, strength, and skill acquisition in a supportive setting.
Competitive Team
ECGA offers three competitive team pathways: the Development Program for men and women competing at USAG Dev Levels 3 through 10, the Xcel Program, and Rec Op. All team programs are by invitation only. ECGA’s competitive team competes in USAG-sanctioned meets throughout the region and continues to develop athletes who go on to compete at the collegiate level.
