Wyoming Academy of Gymnastics and Dance

OVERVIEW

Wyoming Academy of Gymnastics and Dance (WAGD) is a gymnastics facility serving the Gillette community in northeast Wyoming. WAGD’s mission focuses on teaching children to love activity, structure, socialization, and accomplishment through gymnastics. The academy serves athletes across multiple age groups and skill levels, from introductory classes for the youngest children through competitive team athletes competing at the Wyoming State Gymnastics Championships.

WAGD participates annually in Wyoming state competition and is one of two established gymnastics programs in the Gillette area. The academy emphasizes a welcoming and community-oriented atmosphere where young gymnasts are encouraged to develop both athletically and personally through their gymnastics journey.

THE GYM

WAGD’s facility at 5441 Swanson Road in Gillette is equipped for all standard gymnastics training, with apparatus for beam, bars, vault, and floor exercise. The academy offers birthday parties, summer camps, and group classes in addition to its competitive program. Staff work to ensure each student feels valued and receives instruction appropriate to their current skill level.

The academy’s name reflects a historical connection to both gymnastics and dance programming, providing a multi-disciplinary movement arts environment for Gillette youth. WAGD competes as a member club of USA Gymnastics and trains under the USAG Xcel and developmental program structures.

PROGRAMS

Recreational Gymnastics Classes

Classes are available for a variety of age groups, from young children through older youth. Students learn balance, flexibility, coordination, and body awareness while being introduced to all major gymnastics apparatus in a structured, encouraging class setting.

Competitive Team

WAGD fields a competitive team that participates in USAG-sanctioned meets throughout the season, including the Wyoming State Gymnastics Championships. Athletes demonstrate the skills required for team participation and commit to regular practice schedules.

Birthday Parties

The academy hosts gymnastics-themed birthday parties for children, providing a fun and active celebration experience in the gym facility.

Camps

Seasonal gymnastics camps introduce students to the basics of gymnastics in an immersive multi-day format. Camps are open to new and returning students of various ages.
